Detox Water

Spring is finally here!! Today was the first day in a long time that I could actually feel the warmth of the sun, it was incredible!

Taking advantage of the weather, I caught up with a friend from college and we walked along the Charles River here in Boston. It was wonderful to connect with the water, grass and trees, nature always gives me a sense of calm when things are going insane.

The warm weather and sunshine has gotten me in the mood for refreshing beverages, but the last thing my body needs is a sugary lemonade or a gluten filled beer, so I started to infuse some detox water!

Please don't take this recipe as set in stone, it is designed to be different every time. Just have fun with it!

Here's my take:

Spring Detox Water

1 Organic Lemon

1 bunch Organic Mint

1 inch Organic Ginger

Slice the lemon, mince ginger and remove mint leaves from the stem. Place all ingredients in a pitcher and muddle with a wooden spoon. Pour filtered water to fill the pitcher and place in the fridge for a minimum of 2 hours. I like to leave mine overnight, the more time the more flavor. Once you've reached the end of the pitcher I like to refill one more time and finish before the 24 hour mark, then I will start the process again.

Some other flavors I've added to my detox water: cucumber, raspberries, strawberries, limes, watermelon but really the possibilities are endless, let me know if you have created any great combinations!
